Larry David disclosed his reasons for concluding his long-running HBO series, Curb Your Enthusiasm, in an “exit interview” on Sunday Today with Willie Geist before the much-anticipated series finale. With 12 seasons spanning nearly 25 years, David finally shed light on his decision.

When questioned by Geist, who had a cameo in the final season, about any sentimentality attached to bidding farewell, David downplayed any emotional attachment.

He admitted, “Maybe a sliver, just the tiniest bit. I’ve outgrown the constant on-screen presence required for the show. How can I sustain that behavior? It’s unreasonable! I could manage it in my 50s, 60s, and even my mid-70s. But going on into my 80s acting like that is out of the question!”

In a poignant moment, David also touched on the recent passing of his co-star and close friend Richard Lewis. Reflecting on their friendship, he expressed, “He was the kindest person. It’s still surreal to accept that he’s gone. Sometimes I feel like he’s observing me. I jokingly tell him, ‘Hey, give me some space; I have things to do.’ I cherished our friendship; his absence is deeply felt.”

When Geist inquired about the potential of Curb Your Enthusiasm resuming post the finale, David decisively replied, “Zero chance.”

While David has been tight-lipped about the specifics of the series finale, HBO hinted at a special appearance by his longtime friend Jerry Seinfeld on Sunday.
