Dark mode has become an essential part of many people’s lives, and finally, Google Drive has joined the dark mode family. For those who have used other Google services with dark mode, this was a notable missing feature.
Many of us have experienced the struggle of using Google Drive at night, whether it’s accessing important files or updating a spreadsheet. Trying to work in bed with the lights dimmed only to be greeted by the blinding white interface can be very annoying.
Fortunately, Google has listened to users’ requests and officially introduced dark mode for Drive. And the best part is, enabling it is a breeze. Here’s how you can turn on Dark Mode in Google Drive.
How to turn on Dark Mode in Google Drive
1. Select settings
Simply click on the settings icon in the top right corner of the screen and then choose “Settings.”
2. Select Dark Mode
Under “Appearance,” you have the option to select Light, Dark, or Device default. If you prefer your system to switch between light and dark modes based on the time of day, go for “Device default.” For Dark Mode, simply choose “Dark.”
3. Et Voila
And that’s it! You now have Dark Mode activated on Google Drive. Keep in mind that this feature is currently only available for Google Drive and not the entire suite of Google office applications, so adjust your screen brightness accordingly when working on other documents.
