CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Apple has introduced the new Logic Pro for iPad 2 and Logic Pro for Mac 11, offering cutting-edge professional tools for songwriting, beat-making, producing, and mixing. Fueled by artificial intelligence, the latest Logic Pro introduces innovative studio assistant features that enhance the music-making process by providing timely support to artists while ensuring they retain complete creative freedom. These features include Session Players, an expansion of the popular Drummer feature in Logic Pro to incorporate a new Bass Player and Keyboard Player; Stem Splitter, for isolating and manipulating individual parts of an audio recording; and ChromaGlow, for instantly adding warmth to tracks. Logic Pro for iPad 2 and Logic Pro for Mac 11 will be available on the App Store starting Monday, May 13.
“Logic Pro equips creators with all the tools they need to compose, produce, and mix exceptional music, and our latest features elevate that creativity to new heights,” said Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Apps Worldwide Product Marketing. “The new AI-powered updates in Logic Pro, combined with the unmatched performance of iPad, Mac, and M-series Apple silicon, deliver the ultimate music production experience for creative professionals.”
Session Players: Custom AI-Driven Musical Support
Session Players provide creators with groundbreaking experiences by offering a personalized, AI-driven musical support system that responds directly to user input.1 Drummer made a significant impact on the music creation industry as one of the world’s first generative musicians over a decade ago. Now, it has been enhanced with key upgrades and the addition of a virtual Bass Player and Keyboard Player. Session Players enhance the live performance experience while ensuring artists retain full control at every stage of their music production process.
Bass Player was developed in collaboration with leading bass players using advanced AI and sampling technologies. Users can select from eight different Bass Players and influence their performance using controls for complexity and intensity, along with advanced parameters for slides, mutes, dead notes, and pickup hits. Bass Player can jam along with chord progressions, or users can choose from 100 Bass Player loops for inspiration. With Chord Track, users can define and edit the song’s chord progressions, which the virtual Bass Player will accurately follow. Additionally, with the Studio Bass plug-in, users gain access to six new, meticulously recorded instruments, ranging from acoustic to electric, inspired by contemporary bass tones and genres.
With Keyboard Player, users can choose from four different styles crafted in collaboration with top studio musicians, designed to complement a wide range of music genres. Keyboard Player can play anything from simple block chords to chord voicing with extended harmonies, offering nearly endless variations. Similar to the Bass Player, Keyboard Player follows the chord progression set by the user using Chord Track. Through the Studio Piano plug-in, users can access additional sound-shaping options, allowing adjustments to three mic positions, pedal noise, key noise, release samples, and sympathetic resonance.
Stem Splitter: Retrieve Exceptional Recordings
Many musicians deliver their best performances in informal settings, such as Voice Memos recordings, old demo tapes, or live shows. Reviewing these recordings can uncover exceptional performances that are challenging to reproduce, rendering them lost to time. With Stem Splitter, artists can now extract moments of inspiration from any audio file and isolate nearly any mixed audio recording into four separate parts: Drums, Bass, Vocals, and Other instruments, directly on the device.2 Once these tracks are separated, applying effects, adding new elements, or adjusting the mix becomes convenient. Powered by AI and M-series Apple silicon, Stem Splitter operates at lightning speed.
ChromaGlow: Optimize Sound Quality
ChromaGlow simulates the sounds generated by a blend of the most esteemed studio hardware, employing AI and the power of M-series Apple silicon.3 Users can fine-tune the sound quality with five distinct saturation styles to infuse tracks with ultra-realistic warmth, presence, and impact. They can choose from contemporary clean tones, nostalgic vintage warmth, or more extreme styles that can be tailored to taste and preferences.
Powered by iPad and Mac
Following its debut last year, Logic Pro for iPad has gained rapid popularity among creatives. Tailored to leverage touch functionality to the fullest, Logic Pro converts iPad into virtually any instrument imaginable. Thanks to the portable design of the iPad, it transforms into a complete studio experience on the go. With the robust performance of Apple silicon, musicians can execute complex multitrack projects, craft custom software instrument sounds, access a feature-rich professional mixer, and explore the app’s extensive collection of effects plug-ins.
Collaboration between iPad and Mac is seamless with project round-tripping, enabling users to create music on the move and seamlessly refine their projects back in the studio.
