Seven Syracuse University Men’s Lacrosse Players Receive USILA All-America Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced the recipients of the All-America honors for the 2024 season, with seven players from Syracuse University’s men’s lacrosse team making the list.Jake Stevens was named as a midfielder to the USILA All-America Second Team, while Joey Spallina and Billy Dwan earned spots on the third team for attack and defense, respectively. The honorable mention recipients included Owen Hiltz (Attack), Sam English (Midfield), Mason Kohn (Faceoff), and Will Mark (Goalie).

Stevens and Dwan secured their first USILA All-America honors, while Spallina improved from an honorable mention last year. Hiltz obtained his second All-America selection, English earned another honorable mention, Mark earned his third All-America recognition, and Kohn received his first Division I USILA All-America honor after a previous selection to the Division III First Team.

Stevens, a midfielder drafted into the Premier Lacrosse League, contributed significantly to the Orange’s offense with 21 goals and 15 assists, totaling 36 points. He excelled in ground balls and turnovers, playing a crucial role in the team’s faceoff success rate increase.

Spallina, a sophomore, closed the season with 88 points from 37 goals and 51 assists, ranking third in Division I. As a key player in the team’s offense, he led in points and assists, showcasing remarkable shooting accuracy and causing turnovers on the field.

Dwan, a close defenseman, stood out with 18 turnovers and 34 ground balls, adding eight goals to his defensive contributions. His transition skills and goal-scoring abilities as a defenseman set new records for the team.

English, a versatile midfielder, combined for 34 points from 23 goals and 11 assists, with notable game-winning goals and ground ball collections, displaying strong performance throughout the season.

Hiltz maintained his scoring prowess, securing 65 points from 38 goals and 27 assists, showcasing exceptional shooting accuracy and significant contributions to the team’s offense.

Kohn significantly influenced the team’s faceoff success with 196 wins at a 58.3% rate, contributing to numerous goals scored by the team. His performance at the X position was crucial to the team’s success.

Mark, an outstanding goalie, recorded 205 saves this season, demonstrating exceptional goalkeeping skills and crucial saves that contributed to the team’s victories, setting new records for saves in a season.
