As part of Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail‘s new content, a mount inspired by Shadowbringers is in the spotlight due to a collaboration between the MMO and an international tea brand. Square’s announcement for the event mentions, “Three collaboration drinks inspired by FF14 characters will be available during the promotion period.” Participants who buy three eligible drinks in one go will receive a code for the King Porxie mount.
The King Porxie mount, previously exclusive to Japan, resembles the Pixie beast tribe’s Portly Porxie mount, boasting undeniable cuteness. However, acquiring this flying piggy is proving challenging for collectors. As expected, scalpers have seized the opportunity to make unfair profits. A Reddit thread sheds light on instances of scalping.
One Reddit user shares, “It’s roughly 15-20 dollars for three drinks to get your mount,” a stark contrast to the $100-$150 price tags set by scalpers for a single mount code online. Advertisements for the Porxie King emphasize its rarity and exclusivity, targeting avid players seeking quick transactions. Fans express frustration over being unable to secure the required three drinks due to scalping practices.
Reports reveal instances of individuals purchasing 48 drinks, discarding them after obtaining 16 mount codes. Some users hope for an alternative method to obtain the Porxie King, such as through the Mog Station, as they lack access to a Gong cha store. While the mount is desirable, many are unwilling to spend a significant sum just to acquire it.
