This led to the D-backs’ 6-5 loss in extra innings.
Manager Torey Lovullo expressed his views post-game, highlighting the importance of playing all 27 outs. He also shared insights on the decision-making during the crucial ninth inning and Sewald’s recent struggles, having blown four saves in July with a 9.31 ERA for the month.

Martinez’s struggles continued, allowing the Pirates to score four runs and take a 6-2 lead. While the D-backs managed to narrow the gap in the bottom of the 10th, they fell short of a comeback.
