The Milwaukee Brewers could benefit from an opportunity in the American League East to acquire a much-needed bat.
Following an injury to their star outfielder Christian Yelich, who was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a back injury, the Brewers had to explore potential trades to fill the void. Luckily, trade rumors have hinted at the possibility of adding a valuable player to their lineup for the upcoming seasons.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, “If the (Tampa Bay) Rays are still looking to move established players for younger, more inexpensive talent, they could trade Yandy DÃaz, Pete Fairbanks, and Brandon Lowe, among others. Given their current strategy, any move wouldn’t come as a surprise.”
Lowe has been performing well this season, boasting a .262 batting average with 24 extra-base hits, including 12 home runs, 34 RBIs, and an .879 OPS (148 OPS+) in 58 games.
At 30 years old, Lowe is contractually tied to the team until 2026 and could provide immediate assistance to a lineup potentially missing their former MVP Yelich for an extended period, while also serving as a long-term power hitter.
Although Lowe has primarily played in the infield, he could be a viable replacement for Yelich in the outfield or might slot in at second base or as a designated hitter, offering an upgrade in those positions.
Given the Rays’ willingness to consider trades for most of their players, especially with their history of dealings with Milwaukee, a potential trade between the two teams is plausible once again.
