The activists and ex-detainees have leveled allegations against Bashir Biazar, a former executive at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), accusing him of playing a role in the mistreatment of detainees.
Iran’s state television has frequently broadcast coerced “confessions” from political and regular inmates, including dual citizens and foreign nationals, who were reportedly subjected to physical and mental abuse.
Biazar, who has been in custody under administrative detention – a process normally used in urgent deportation cases under French law – since June 3, is currently awaiting a deportation decree from the French Minister of the Interior.
Iranian authorities claim that his apprehension is connected to his anti-Israel actions, yet reliable sources have divulged to Iran International that he is facing multiple charges related to national security.
