Apple has unveiled the highly anticipated OLED iPad Pro and introduced an updated Magic Keyboard featuring an aluminum palm rest, a larger trackpad with haptic feedback, and a function row.

The new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro (M4) is available in black and silver, tailored for the 11-inch and 13-inch models, priced at $299 and $349 respectively. Preorders are open today with shipping scheduled for next week. It should be noted that the keyboards are not compatible with the latest iPad Air models but are optimized for the new iPad Pro models. The previous generation Magic Keyboard is designated as the Magic Keyboard for iPad Air (M2).

This update marks a significant overhaul of the iPad Pro’s Magic Keyboard since its initial launch in 2020. While retaining its unique design with double-hinged cantilever and a single power-only USB-C port, the keyboard now features an aluminum palm rest and an enlarged glass trackpad with haptic feedback. The inclusion of a function row brings it in line with the Magic Keyboard Folio, introduced for the base-model iPad in 2022.

The enhancements brought by the Magic Keyboard have contributed to bridging the gap between the iPad and a traditional laptop. The improved finish and enlarged trackpad further elevate the user experience. However, any remaining distinctions between the two devices are not solely determined by the keyboard itself.
