Summer McIntosh, a sixteen-year-old swimmer, achieved a remarkable feat by breaking the world record for the 400m individual medley at the Canadian swimming trials. This accomplishment comes just days after setting a new world record in the 400m freestyle event.
McIntosh completed the 400m individual medley in an impressive time of 4:25.87, surpassing the previous record set by Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszú at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
This achievement adds to McIntosh’s exceptional week, as she had previously broken the 400m freestyle world record by beating the time set by Ariarne Titmus last May.
Reacting to her latest victory, McIntosh expressed her emotions and gratitude towards the supportive crowd.
She mentioned, “That’s the first time I really vividly heard the crowd during my race. It’s amazing to have all my family and friends in the stands, cheering me on. It really helped me in the last 100 meters,” as reported by Reuters.
