Chris Pratt shared his unique approach to raising his three children.
During the “Garfield” premiere on May 19, Pratt, 44, reflected on his own upbringing and how it influences his parenting style.
“There’s a shift in parenting norms nowadays,” Pratt expressed to E! News. “When I was young, I always followed my parents’ instructions without question. I never felt I could say ‘no.’ I struggled with handling my emotions. So, with my own kids, we encourage them to be open about their feelings.”
He added, “While they understand ‘no’ from their mom, when it comes from me, it doesn’t seem to have the same impact. I’m still figuring out how to navigate that, but we’ll get there.”
Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger in June 2019 after being introduced by Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver. They tied the knot in Montecito, California, and welcomed their first daughter, Lyla, in August 2020.
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor and author welcomed their second daughter, Eloise, in May 2022.
Pratt’s son, Jack, is from his previous marriage to Anna Faris.
“They are adorable and amazing,” he affectionately described his children to the publication. “They’re kind, well-mannered, and bring so much joy. I adore them.”

Pratt revealed that accepting a role in “Garfield” was an easy decision as it allows him to share the experience with his kids.
“It’s a no-brainer,” Pratt shared with E! News. “If an opportunity like this arises, I jump in because it’s a chance for me to lend my voice to this iconic character. Plus, it’s even better when my children watch the movie and say, ‘Hey, that’s dad! That’s pretty cool.'”

Arnold Schwarzenegger recently praised Pratt’s bond with his daughter during an interview on Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
“I am thrilled that my daughter found him,” Arnold shared with the NFL stars. “They are a great match and look wonderful together. Their love for each other is evident.”
