DENVER (AP) — The rookie for Denver, DaRon Holmes II, has had surgery on his right Achilles tendon following an injury in the Nuggets’ NBA 2K25 Summer League debut.
The Nuggets revealed on Monday that Dr. Kenneth Hunt at UCHealth Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Denver performed the surgery on Holmes. No specific timeline has been given for Holmes’ recovery.
In his first Summer League game, Holmes, a forward from Dayton, contributed 11 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes during the Nuggets’ 88-78 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers last Friday.
Holmes was initially selected as the 22nd pick by Phoenix in the recent draft; however, his rights were acquired by the Nuggets in exchange for the 28th overall pick, the 56th pick, and two future second-round picks.
Denver had high hopes for Holmes’ versatility in the upcoming season, considering his accolades as the Atlantic 10 co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
