PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles and A.J. Brown have reached a historic agreement on a three-year, $96 million extension, with $84 million guaranteed, according to the star wide receiver’s agent speaking to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The $84 million guarantee sets a new NFL record for wide receivers, surpassing the $77 million guaranteed to Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions. Additionally, the $32 million average annual value of the extension is the highest for any NFL receiver.

The Eagles confirmed the deal on Thursday night without disclosing the financial specifics.

Philadelphia now has both their star receivers locked in with extended contracts. Earlier in the month, they secured DeVonta Smith with a three-year extension worth $75 million, including $51 million guaranteed. Smith’s contract runs through 2028, while Brown’s extends through 2029.

“We aim to proactively keep this team together,” stated Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. “Starting with [owner] Jeffrey [Lurie]’s support, we emphasized the benefits of unity during our pre-draft press conference. The only way to achieve that is through early deals. We saw an opportunity to do so with A.J. We have executed multiple deals with our players and aim to continue that trend, ensuring our team stays cohesive. It would not be possible without the backing that allows us to proceed in this manner. We believed that the sooner we sealed the deal, the better for both parties, with A.J. assured of his place here.”

Brown’s contract follows almost two years after his acquisition by the Eagles from the Tennessee Titans during the draft, leading to a four-year, $100 million deal. Brown has delivered exceptional performances, exceeding 1,400 receiving yards in each of his two seasons with Philadelphia and amassing 18 touchdowns.

Brown received second-team All-Pro honors and made his third Pro Bowl appearance last season, showcasing a career-best performance of 106 catches for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2023, he set an NFL record with six consecutive games of 125+ receiving yards.

In 2022, Brown and Smith achieved a milestone for the Eagles by each reaching 1,000 receiving yards, a feat they repeated last season. Alongside quarterback Jalen Hurts, they have been instrumental in driving an offense that ranks fifth in points per game, averaging 26.8 over the past two seasons.
