With Father’s Day just around the corner, India’s beloved wrestling icon Dara Singh, famous for his portrayal of Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, is set to have a biopic made about him.
Dara Singh’s son, Vindu Dara Singh, has announced plans for a film honoring his father. Vindu expressed, “The film will feature my son Fateh, who is in amazing shape and eager to take on this role. He has received personal training from the renowned Jackie Chan. I believe that if anyone in our family can capture my father’s charisma and charm, it is my son,” Vindu revealed to Zoom.
Vindu mentioned that the script for the Dara Singh biopic has been finalized. “We have a script that Fateh resonates with. He is very specific about his debut and we convinced him that there could be no better beginning than a movie showcasing the life of his legendary grandfather,” Vindu added.
Vindu also shared his excitement about the release this week of Chandu Champion, a film paying homage to Dara Singh. He stated, “I am eager to watch Chandu Champion right away. I have heard it is a sophisticated and elegant film, and it portrays my father as a significant influence on Kartik Aaryan’s character, Murlikant Petkar. My father, Dara Singh, symbolizes strength, power, and resilience. I hope my son has imbibed some of his grandfather’s qualities.”
In an exclusive conversation with Zoom, the film’s director, Kabir Khan, shared the story behind the project and said, “I came across a newspaper article handed to me randomly and was told to read it, saying that I would find it interesting. After reading it, I thought, this can’t be real. But they assured me it was a genuine article. I was perplexed as to how this person’s whereabouts were unknown despite such an article praising him. However, I couldn’t shake off the thought from my mind. Due to my background in documentaries, I had an urge to delve into the life of this man.”
