- Temperatures Finally Return to Near-Normal Levels Friday Into Weekend
Thursday Morning:
A line of storms out west likely will weaken as it moves across Missouri. If a few of these storms can hold together, they can produce 40-60 mph winds and a downpour between 3AM and 7AM. It’s not a guarantee these hold together, but stay alert early in the morning and get a weather update from First Alert 4 before you head out on the road.
Thursday Afternoon-Evening:
As a cold front approaches combined with any lingering outflow boundaries acting to trigger a few storms, we will have a 30% chance for storms from Noon through 8PM. Some could be severe, though we are currently in the lowest level 1 severe risk. Even if not severe, isolated storms can produce a quick downpour and gusty winds. These storms could make it cooler than we expect, but for now the First Alert Weather Day continues Thursday with a potential heat index in the 103 to 107 range and a chance for isolated severe storms.
Friday:
Friday is when our temperatures return back down to near normal, but that is still hot. There is a 20% chance in the afternoon for a spot shower or storm, but nothing severe. And it looks dry for the weekend though we will have typical heat and humidity.
While we see temperatures heating up again next week briefly, those days don’t have the excessive humidity we have been dealing with lately. Instead, it will be steamy, and the heat index will push into the upper 90s to near 100 on Monday and Tuesday.
