At 152 years old, the Open Championship, also known as the British Open, is the oldest major golf tournament in the world, and the best athletes in the sport are assembling in Scotland this week to take part at Royal Troon Golf Club.
American Brian Harman is the defending champion of the Open, and this year, Masters winner Scottie Scheffler, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy are among the other 156 players competing to win the coveted Claret Jug (and a prize pot of over $3 million). What channel is the Open Championship on?
The Open Championship will be broadcast on NBC and USA. Early rounds will be broadcast on USA starting at 4 a.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, and NBC will begin its coverage of the tournament Saturday and Sunday at 7 a.m. ET.

How to watch the Open Championship without cable:
If you want to watch the Open Championship without cable, you have options. While NBC and USA will show most of the significant moments, Peacock will broadcast the first two rounds of the tournament. The coverage begins just before the first tee time at 1:35 a.m. ET on Thursday, July 18 (which is 6:35 a.m. local time in Scotland). The last group will tee off at 11:27 a.m. ET.
Peacock will stream all four days of the tournament and will also feature a special feed showcasing the iconic par-3 ‘Postage Stamp’ 8th hole throughout the week.
In case you don’t have a Peacock subscription, you can still watch NBC and USA with subscriptions to Hulu with Live TV, Fubo, and DirecTV.

What is the Postage Stamp?
This year will be the tenth occasion the Open is held at the Royal Troon Golf Club. One of its distinguishing features is the eighth hole, known as the “Postage Stamp.” This par three, 123-yard hole is identified as “the shortest hole in Open Championship golf” by Royal Troon. Despite its length, it is considered one of the most challenging holes due to its small putting green surrounded by bunkers. The hole earned its name when Scottish golfer William Park likened its surface to “the size of a postage stamp.”
