The Polish publisher and developer of games like Frostpunk, This War of Mine, and The Alters, 11 bit, shared on Instagram that they were deeply affected by the tragic attack on the children’s hospital in Kyiv by Russian military forces. This prompted their decision to donate $50,000 to the Liberty Ukraine Foundation, in support of Ukrainian children undergoing treatment at Ohmatdyt.
Indika is an unusual third-person adventure game created by the team at Odd Meter, a Russian studio that relocated to Kazakhstan in protest during the invasion of Ukraine. The founder, Dmitry Svetlow, criticized the war as a senseless act carried out to satisfy the ambitions of an elderly, feeble-minded figure.
In an interview with PCG last year, Svetlow explained that the game aimed to highlight the distinction between individuals and authorities.
Ohmatdyt, known as the largest children’s hospital in Ukraine, was directly hit by a Russian missile, resulting in the death of two adults. This attack was part of a broader missile assault across Ukraine that claimed the lives of at least 43 individuals.
While the Russian government denied responsibility for the hospital attack, claiming without proof that a “Ukrainian air defense missile” caused the explosion. Nevertheless, investigations revealed that the weapon used was a Russian Kh-101 missile, prompting widespread international condemnation of Russia.
“War leaves destruction in its wake, especially impacting the most vulnerable—children. Let this message resonate with us all—players and developers alike—and let’s offer our utmost support.”
