Last year, there was extensive coverage on Kevin Costner’s divorce from his wife, Christine Baumgartner. They had disagreements over their prenuptial agreement and battled over child custody support, making it a challenging and emotional separation.

Now, according to Us Weekly sources, the 69-year-old actor reflects on his regrets following his split from Baumgartner. Although he is looking ahead to the future, he still feels a sense of remorse for how they handled things during the challenging times. One source mentioned that Costner wished they could have resolved their issues, but it was Baumgartner who initiated the divorce. Another insider added that she didn’t give Costner a chance to work things out, leaving him in pain. Despite the difficulties, Costner has moved on. One of the sore points for him was seeing his ex-partner move on quickly after their breakup.

Baumgartner was seen on what she described as a platonic vacation with their friend Josh Connor last summer. Their relationship was only publicly confirmed in May when TMZ captured them holding hands in Montecito. Costner observed how fast Baumgartner moved on, causing him hurt, but he has since come to terms with it. The former couple are not on friendly terms, and communication is limited to matters concerning their younger children – Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 13.

Since the divorce, Costner has been seen cozying up to singer Jewel towards the end of last year. The status of their relationship is uncertain, but the 49-year-old musician described Costner as a great person in an interview with ELLE magazine and mentioned the intense public interest in their connection. While their relationship might be under the radar, it seems that Costner is currently focused on his work following the late June release of Horizon: An American Saga.

With a significant stake of $38 million on the line, Costner is understandably concerned about lukewarm reviews from critics at the Cannes Film Festival. Industry insiders believe that the final judgment on HAASP1 will come from the millions of fans who made Yellowstone a huge success over the past five years, hoping for a positive outcome. The upcoming weeks will be tense for Costner, but he remains optimistic that his passion project will mark a new chapter for him post his divorce from Baumgartner.
