Kourtney Kardashian Barker has opened up about a scary incident in her life.
During the premiere of The Kardashians‘s season 5, the 45-year-old mother of four discussed the emergency fetal surgery she underwent last summer before the arrival of baby Rocky Thirteen. Kardashian Barker shared about having a scan at home just as her husband, Travis Barker, was departing for his Blink-182 tour.
“The doctor who came home for the scan is a high-risk expert, very meticulous at examining everything,” Kardashian Barker said. “Something caught his attention where he wanted me to consult with a couple of specialists, leading to fetal surgery to operate on the baby, which was frightening.”
Kardashian Barker mentioned being at home the night before the surgery, sharing that it was a stressful time. Meanwhile, Barker was overseas and returned home for the surgery.

“The timing was miraculous. It saved everything,” Kardashian Barker expressed. “I feel so grateful for how things unfolded and for the doctors who made crucial decisions that ultimately saved our baby.”
“The doctor mentioned, ‘That was a trauma, and I want you two to take a moment to understand how traumatic it was,'” the mother of four recollected.
In a candid moment, Kardashian Barker mentioned how she relied on her “superpower” to navigate the stress of the surgery.
“There’s a certain superpower I possess that makes me very composed in emergencies. After we left, I was able to breathe, let out my emotions,” she elaborated.

Reflecting on why she chose to share her journey on social media, Kardashian Barker emphasized her hope that others could benefit from her story.
“Many were appreciative of my post as they struggle to share similar experiences even with friends or family for fear of judgment,” Kardashian Barker remarked.
“My doctor assured me that it wasn’t due to anything I did wrong or age-related. It was an extremely rare occurrence,” she added. “After that experience, I trusted that everything was in God’s hands. It was a miracle, and I maintain a positive outlook.”
Following the operation, Kardashian Barker mentioned feeling much improved.
“I feel good. However, due to the emergency fetal surgery, I’m cautious, so if I don’t sense movement for a few minutes, I make sure to move him around,” she shared.
“I’m mostly on bed rest now as there’s a hole in the amniotic sac from the surgery. I’m not allowed to drive, stand for long periods, or leave the house much.”
