Nicole Kidman will be joining Practical Magic 2 alongside Sandra Bullock!
The Oscar winner, who is 56 years old, confirmed in an interview with PEOPLE on June 13 that she will be reprising her role as Gillian Owens in the sequel to the 1998 movie Practical Magic. She revealed this news before the release of her upcoming Netflix film A Family Affair, starring alongside Zac Efron and Joey King.
Bullock, aged 59, will also return to her role as Sally, the older sister of Gillian, according to Kidman.

“Yes, I will be part of it. And Sandy will join too. That’s decided,” Kidman jokingly said. “There’s an intriguing story to tell which is why we thought, ‘Okay, this is quite interesting to do.'”
Kidman mentioned, “[We] discovered a way in.”
Initially reported by PEOPLE, the duo was in discussions to star in and executive produce a sequel to the popular 1998 fantasy drama on June 10.
The screenplay for the sequel will be penned by Akiva Goldsman, the writer of A Beautiful Mind.
Speculations about a sequel to the 1998 hit arose late on June 9, as the film was made available for streaming at midnight on Max as a nod to the movie’s “midnight margaritas” scene.
Based on the 1995 book by Alice Hoffman, the original Practical Magic movie follows sisters Gillian and Sally, raised by their aunts following the tragic loss of their parents. The story revolves around their efforts to break a curse that prevents any women in their family from experiencing true love, especially after the men they fall in love with meet unfortunate fates.

Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic series includes three other books: two prequels, The Rules of Magic (2017) and Magic Lessons (2020), and a sequel titled The Book of Magic (2021).
In 2019, HBO had plans for a reboot of Practical Magic centered around The Rules of Magic, as reported by Variety. However, the show never made it to air.
Kidman and Efron’s romantic comedy A Family Affair will be available on Netflix starting June 28.
