Raye will be making her first appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend (April 5), but before that, she got a lesson in modern slang from Kristen Wiig and Bowen Yang.
Yang says, “It’s always an honor to collaborate with an OG,” referring to Wiig, who is a former SNL cast member hosting the show for the fifth time. Wiig explains to Raye that “OG” actually stands for “Opulent Girl,” to which Raye looks puzzled, as the term commonly means “Original Gangster.”

Yang clarifies, “Yes, OG, referring to a girl who is conspicuously rich, luxurious, or extravagant. It’s surprising that you’ve never heard of that before, Raye!”
Wiig’s new series Palm Royale, where she stars and serves as an executive producer, premieres on March 20 on AppleTV+. Wiig will host the episode, with Raye making her debut on SNL as the musical guest. The British singer-songwriter recently made history by winning six BRIT Awards, the highest number ever received by a single artist in a year.
Don’t miss the upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live on Saturday (April 6) at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC; it will also be available for streaming on Peacock.
