The latest performance of Tenacious D’s Australian tour has been delayed following a demand from Senator Ralph Babet to deport the duo after a perceived jest about an incident involving Donald Trump.

The American comedic rock pair comprising Jack Black and Kyle Gass were set to entertain in Newcastle on Tuesday night as part of their Spicy Meatball Tour. However, the show was abruptly canceled without prior notice on Tuesday afternoon.

Frontier Touring, the concert promoter, expressed regret on social media, stating that they were “disappointed to inform that Tenacious D’s performance tonight at Newcastle Entertainment Centre has been postponed.”

“Ticket holders are instructed to retain their tickets until further details are provided,” mentioned the company in a social media update and refrained from making any further statements.

Local media outlets reported that Black had been spotted shopping in Newcastle the day before.

In what seemed to be a joking manner, Gass mentioned not to miss Trump next time, just hours after the incident at Trump’s rally where the former president got injured.

Babet called out for the Prime Minister and the Immigration Minister to denounce Tenacious D, Jack Black, and Kyle Gass, urging for their visas to be revoked and immediate deportation. Babet emphasized that anything short of deportation would be seen as supporting the shooting and attempted assassination of Donald J Trump, deeming it unthinkable for the band to stay in Australia.

While many conservative and pro-Trump online accounts criticized Gass’s remark, there were supporters of Tenacious D as well. Some individuals viewed Gass’s comment as a joke. One supporter praised Kyle Gass, stating “Long live the D,” and defended freedom of expression for comedians, questioning the idea of comedians being deported for making jokes.

Jack Black has previously expressed disapproval of Trump and recently participated in a fundraiser for Joe Biden. Tenacious D had upcoming shows scheduled in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide, followed by a trip to New Zealand the following week.
