In a remarkable display of skill and luck, a young baseball enthusiast named Caleb made an impressive defensive play at Tropicana Field during a game on Wednesday night.
Seated along the left-field line with his friends, Caleb managed to catch not just one but two foul balls during the Rays’ 4-3 victory over the A’s.
Cameras captured the young fan, dressed in a complete Rays uniform and equipped with a glove on his left hand, making a catch off a foul ball hit by Oakland’s Abraham Toro in the top of the third inning. Moments later, he caught another foul ball hit by Tampa Bay’s Ben Rortvedt in the bottom of the third inning. The talented youngster then gleefully turned around to high-five the cheering crowd.
Rays broadcaster Dewayne Staats took notice of Caleb’s impressive feat and commented, “How about that young guy right there? He’s had two souvenirs tonight.”
In the following inning, Rays in-game host Nate Kurant interviewed Caleb on the ballpark scoreboard, labeling him as the “Defensive Fan of the Game” under his first name.
