FRANKLIN, TN, USA, May 29, 2024 /EINPresswire.com/ — On Sunday, June 2, 2024, people around the world are coming together to honor cancer survivors, raise awareness about the ongoing challenges of cancer survivorship, and celebrate life as part of the 37th annual National Cancer Survivors Day®.

National Cancer Survivors Day® is an annual global Celebration of Life that takes place on the first Sunday in June. Numerous cities in the U.S. and internationally will host events on this day to recognize the cancer survivors in their communities, increase awareness about the ongoing struggles faced by cancer survivors, and most importantly, to celebrate life.

According to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, which manages the event, a ‘survivor’ is anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer and continues to live their life. People are encouraged to participate in the worldwide celebration, including cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, family members, and friends. To find out how your community is marking the occasion, get in touch with the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation.

Additionally, the Foundation provides an opportunity for everyone to connect with fellow cancer survivors and supporters worldwide on Sunday, June 2, whether by attending a local event or celebrating in their unique way. You can engage in the celebration online by using the hashtag #NCSD2024 and following National Cancer Survivors Day® on social media.

The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, along with NCSD 2024 national supporters such as Amgen, Aveo Oncology, Convatec, Coping with Cancer, Deciphera, Erasca Foundation, Hologic, Incyte, Ipsen, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Labcorp, Lantheus, and Springworks Therapeutics, are calling on people worldwide to stand in solidarity with cancer survivors on National Cancer Survivors Day® and to highlight the challenges faced by cancer survivors.

Laura Shipp, a spokesperson for the Foundation, emphasized the progress made in the fight against cancer since the inception of National Cancer Survivors Day® in 1987. However, she stressed the importance of not forgetting about cancer survivors once treatment ends and addressing the long-term effects of cancer to ensure that survivors have the best possible quality of life after overcoming this life-threatening illness.

The Foundation advocates for the message that cancer survivorship is not just about surviving cancer but about living life to the fullest.
